Our food programme is provided to us by The Nursery Catering Company, a specialist children’s caterer who deliver ready to serve, freshly cooked and nutritious meals to our nurseries each day. Children are fed 5 times a day, including a morning and afternoon snack. If you have any questions about food at Tommies, please arrange a visit and we can discuss your individual child’s needs.
Balanced, healthy diet
We believe in serving nutritious food to children so that they maintain a well-balanced and are prepared for a busy day of learning and playing. We have an alternating food menu for each week of the month so that children are given a variety of healthy, tasty and nutritious food. When they’re capable, we encourage children to serve food for themselves from our food trays, which helps to develop your child’s motor skills, initiative and social skills.
All dietary needs are catered for, including any allergies or religious/cultural beliefs. We understand that children may have food intolerance’s and specific dietary requirements, which is why we’re able to offer suitable alternatives to meet your child’s needs.

Children’s Food Trust
The menus provided have been checked and approved by the Children’s Food Trust, which demonstrates our shared commitment to providing healthy food and drink to children. The Children’s Food Trust are a group of expert children’s nutritionists, who share our belief that children have the right to eat healthy, well-balanced and nutritious meals each day.
The Nursery Catering Company support local businesses and compassion in farming. The fresh meat in our dishes is delivered by a fully accredited, local butcher. We take pride in ensuring the produce we use is not only local, but is fully traceable from farm to fork.
All our senior nursery staff are fully trained and qualified to Level 2 in Food Safety. All staff receive regular food hygiene training to help maintain our high standards.
