OUR TEAM

Vital in providing children with an amazing nursery experience

The right people for your child

From an early age, many children will spend a great deal of time at nursery, so it’s important they have loving, caring and supportive people around them, especially during these formative years.

At Tommies Childcare, we believe that the best early years provision comes from employing the right people to care for your child. When recruiting for staff in our nurseries, we value people who are clearly passionate and show enthusiasm for childcare as well as being highly-skilled.

Staff engagement

We understand, appreciate and value the vital contribution our staff make in providing your child with an amazing nursery experience. Our own leadership team dedicate their time to developing each nursery, and investing in our staff to become outstanding early years practitioners with the knowledge and understanding needed to support your child.

Some of the initiatives and benefits we provide our staff with include:

  • Annual employee satisfaction survey
  • Annual awards ceremony
  • Bespoke training courses
  • Performance-related pay for all staff
  • ‘Listening Lunches’ represented by our staff

Recruitment & vetting

At Tommies Childcare, we actively promote a positive and diverse culture in which all people are valued and supported so that they fulfil their potential – regardless of their background or culture.

Before any new member of staff can begin working in one of our nurseries, we request to view a minimum of 2 employment references and/or 3 years’ employment history. We also carry out an Enhanced DBS check for all staff – regardless of whether they work with children or not.

If you’d like to see our full Safer Recruitment Policy, please ask.

Training

Guidelines from Ofsted, local authorities and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) can change frequently, which is why we encourage staff to refresh their knowledge and develop their learning. We also believe that any member of staff working with children should be qualified to perform Paediatric First Aid.

Our nurseries work with a specialist training provider to deliver bespoke courses which combine official guidelines with our own policies and procedures. This enables our staff to maintain an in-depth understanding of both current legislation and our own unique approach to early years care and education.

If you have any questions about our team or staff training, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.
