Announcement: Springthorpe Day Nursery (formerly Karen’s Kindergarden in Birmingham) Joins Tommies Childcare

We are delighted to announce that, as of Friday 10th September 2021, Karen’s Kindergarden Day Nursery in Birmingham joined Tommies Childcare.

Karen’s Kindergarden has been operating in Erdington, Birmingham since 2006 under the ownership of Karen Clarke. The nursery is currently registered to care for up to 60 children. After a long career in the childcare sector, Karen took the decision to retire, which paved the way for Tommies Childcare to acquire the nursery.

Karen’s Kindergarden is now the eighth full-time day nursery in the Tommies Childcare group of nurseries. Due to the personal nature of the name, the nursery will now be known as Springthorpe Day Nursery & Pre-school, named after the road on which the nursery is situated.

Danielle Butler, Tommies Childcare Operations Director, said:

“I am delighted to confirm that Tommies Childcare has acquired Karen’s Kindergarden. This is a landmark moment for our organisation, as we are expanding into a new area and will be welcoming new members of staff to the Tommies Childcare family.

“I would like to take this opportunity to commend Karen for her dedication and commitment to giving children the best possible start in their early years. I would also like to express my thanks to Karen for agreeing to allow Tommies Childcare to acquire the nursery and for the support she and Adrian Colledge have provided these past few months.”

Over the coming weeks and months, Tommies will be investing in exciting new resources, toys and equipment for the children in our care. We can also reveal that plans are already underway for an exciting refurbishment of the nursery, which will modernise the environment, increase capacity, and help to establish Springthorpe as a flagship nursery for families in Erdington and the surrounding areas.
