Day Nursery & Pre-school Provision in Nuneaton
Meet the team
Hello, my name is Rachael Atkins and I’m the Nursery Manager here at Arbury Day Nursery.
I started my journey with Tommies Childcare in May 2021 after following the company and their development since my nephew attended Arbury. I was really drawn to the company ethos of prioritising the wellbeing and development of their practitioners, and their clear vision to keep children at the heart of what they do.
I have been working with children for over 12 years and during this time I have studied to achieve a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies and then went on to gain Early Years Teacher Status. I have now been working in leadership and management roles for several years and work hard to motivate and inspire the team to achieve excellence care and education for all children at the nursery.
I am passionate about creating stimulating and engaging classroom environments where children can explore, create, think critically, and investigate new concepts and ideas, alongside our skilled and responsive practitioners who are co-learners with the children.
I have a background in trainind adults in early years practice as well and I value the opportunity to coach and mentor the team to continuously develop their teaching skills.
Health and wellbeing have always been important to me both personally and professionally and I have trained as a Mental Health First Aider and also a children’s yoga teacher with Yoga Ed.
I would love to show you around here at Arbury Day Nursery and introduce you to the team. Why not book a visit today?

Arbury is supported by a team of 10 Nursery Practitioners who are all passionate about working with children in the early years sector. All staff have Paediatric First Aid Training and receive regular and ongoing training through a variety of internal and external professional development opportunities.
Our commitment guarantees that our employees are the best of the best, recruiting those who have a desire to make a difference to children and are passionate about the early years as a career choice.
In 2016 the team helped the nursery maintain their ‘Good’ Ofsted grading. In the report, Ofsted acknowledged that, “Staff get to know children and their families well. They are kind, caring and friendly. Staff are also sensitive to meeting children’s care needs. Children are settled, happy and content. They demonstrate that they enjoy attending”.
This is evident in the number of company awards that the setting has received.
- Nursery Manager of the Year (2019): Anna Biddlestone
- Outstanding Nursery Practitioner (2019): Allease Wall
- Innovative Environments Award (2018): Toddler Room
Some of the team at Arbury have been at the setting for over 5 years. This has helped to provide consistency for the children, and we recognise how important familiar faces are for parents as well. Our longest serving staff are:
- Allease Wall (Toddler Room)
- Danielle Woolaston (Pre-school Room)
- Hannah Cooper (Pre-school Room)
