Day Nursery & Pre-school Provision in Coventry
Meet the team
My name is Angela and I joined Tommies Childcare in May 2017. I started out at Westhill Corner Day Nursery in Coventry before moving to Flutterbies in September 2017 to take the position as Deputy Manager. More recently I have been given the opportunity to take on the role as Nursery Manager.
A strong belief of mine is giving children the best possible start in life and providing them with a stimulating and comfortable environment to enjoy new experiences.
Every child has the right to an enjoyable early years education and to gain valuable skills that they may carry through life with them.
I have worked in the childcare sector for over 9 years, 6 of which have been in management positions. I originally started doing voluntary work in various nurseries and schools while I completed my studies and have gained a lot of knowledge through the different roles I’ve taken on along the years.
Perhaps you’d like to visit Flutterbies to see it for yourself? Please request a visit and I look forward to talking to you soon.
My name is Charlotte Thrower-Menzies and I joined Flutterbies as the Deputy Manager in September 2019, but I have worked with children for more than 8 years.
I have had experience working in different nursery settings and a primary school with reception and Year 1 children.
I have previously worked for ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted-graded nurseries and want to bring my experience and passion to Flutterbies.
I believe that children are the future and want all who I work with to thrive and have the best early years experiences, as these will be in their memories forever. To know that I have been a part of the start of a child’s journey in life fills me with joy and makes me proud.
Flutterbies is supported by a team of 12 Nursery Practitioners who are all passionate about working with children in the early years sector. All staff have Paediatric First Aid Training and receive regular and ongoing training through a variety of internal and external professional development opportunities.
Our commitment guarantees that our employees are the best of the best, recruiting those who have a desire to make a difference to children and are passionate about the early years as a career choice.
In the 2017 Ofsted inspection report it was noted that, “Relationships between staff and children are strong. Staff promote children’s self-esteem through acknowledging and praising positive behaviour. Children behave well and play cooperatively.”
This is supported by a consistent and familiar staff team who have length of service on their side including Nicci Porter who has been part of our Tommies family since 2002. Nicci leads the Pre-school Room and has been instrumental in so many children’s lives during her time with Tommies.
Nursery Manager, Angela Brady, received the Tommies Childcare ‘Outstanding Contribution’ Award at our 2019 company awards ceremony, for her passion and commitment to the nursey and the company as a whole.
The rest of the team at Flutterbies have won several company awards over the years:
- Innovative Environments Award (2019): Garden Area
- Newcomer of the Year (2019): Dawn-Bradley Jones
- Outstanding Contribution Award (2019): Angela Brady
- Deputy Manager of the Year (2018): Angela Brady
- Innovative Environments Award (2018): Pre-school Room
- Newcomer of the Year (2018): Kayleigh Ballard)
Based at the setting is our cook Dawn Bradley-Jones who cooks all of the nursery meals on site. Dawn is extremely committed to working with parents and will personally meet with those parents of children who may have certain allergies or requirements. This helps ease parents, where they may have been anxious about the nurseries ability to cater for their child’s dietary requirements.
There is no doubt that in choosing Flutterbies for your child you will be supported and advised by a friendly and knowledgeable staff team, who genuinely care about the children in their care.
