Hello,
My name is Olivia and I am delighted to be the Nursery Manager here at Thornhill Day Nursery.
I have been working with children for around 20 years and have 2 children of my own; George and Amelia.
After achieving my qualification in Early Years, I found a passion for creating nursery environments and supporting children’s development through working in a day nursery. This prompted me to take the opportunity of going to university where I studied Early Childhood Development further and gained a BA (hons) degree before having my children back in 2009.
I quickly realised that I had an ambition to make a difference in children’s lives. I soon found myself supporting a management team to create positive and enabling environments for children where they could learn through play and develop at their individual stages.
Joining Thornhill Day Nursery has been an incredible experience and with the ethos of Tommies Childcare aligning with my own, I am really excited to work in partnership with you and your children.

My name is Aimee and I am the Deputy Manager here at Thornhill.
I started my journey here with Tommies joining as Toddler Room leader. Since then, I have been given the opportunity to step up to Deputy Manager. I love my role as Deputy manager as it has allowed me to use my experience and knowledge to support the practitioners in the team to develop their own knowledge and work together to support the children’s learning throughout the nursery.
I started my childcare journey around 10 years ago as a newly qualified practitioner in 2013. Over the years, I have developed my knowledge around children’s learning and development in different ways from developing my knowledge around how children learn to reach their full potential to developing my knowledge around SEND and how to support children in the best possible way.
Developing my knowledge has only ignited my passion for caring for children even more and I love coming to work everyday knowing that I will be helping children learn and develop their skills to shape them for the future. It is truly the most rewarding profession.

Thornhill is the newest setting to join the Tommies Childcare family. The entire building has recently undergone an extensive renovation and extension, making it the flagship nursery in the city of Derby. Our team here have taken to the delivery of the Tommies Childcare approach and ethos very well.
This can be seen in the fantastic environments on offer at the setting, whereby children are encouraged to learn through resources and environments that are calm and considerate to the ways in which children learn.
All of our employees have Paediatric First Aid Training and receive regular and ongoing training through a variety of internal and external professional development opportunities.
