Day Nursery & Pre-school Provision in Coventry
Meet the team
My name is Lucinda and I am delighted to be the Nursery Manager here at Westhill Corner Day Nursery.
I have been working with children for more than 23 years and have 3 children of my own; Dylan, James and Millie.
After achieving my qualification in Early Years, all the way back in 1999, I was inspired to further my passion and enthusiasm for watching young children flourish and grow within a nurturing, home from home environment which I was part of creating.
I joined Westhill Corner with a wealth of experience, including 14 years as a Nursery Manager. Working with a company which has the same ethos and drive for creating an environment for your children as I do is an exciting adventure for me. I am looking forward to building relationships and working in partnership with you and your children.
My door is always open for you if you ever need to speak to me. With that in mind, arrange a consultation with me at your earliest convenience. I look forward to speaking with you soon.
My name is Stacey Scott, and I proudly hold the Deputy Manager position here at Westhill Corner.
I joined the team here in 2014 and have progressed in my career, starting initially as a Nursery Practitioner and working my way up into a management position. I have been inspired to work in childcare since I was a teenager. I love the joy that children bring and knew that working with them full-time was the right path for me. It’s not without challenges, but I enjoy them as much as spending a day with young children. No day is ever the same, and I’m continually amazed by how children develop and learn.
I’m always happy to meet with parents interested in taking a tour of Westhill Corner, so please arrange a visit to see us soon.
Westhill Corner is supported by a team of 12 staff, who are all passionate about working with children in the early years.
All of our employees have Paediatric First Aid Training and receive regular and ongoing training through a variety of internal and external professional development opportunities.
Our commitment guarantees that our employees are the best of the best, recruiting those who have a desire to make a difference to children and are passionate about the early years as a career choice.
In 2016, Ofsted noted that: “Children enhance their physical skills and spend time outside each day. They develop good independence skills as they learn to dress themselves for outdoor play.”
Whilst the outdoor area at the setting is smaller than some settings, what they do in the outdoors with the children is of real value to children’s learning and development. The setting has appointed Sarah Wellington as their Outdoors Co-ordinator. She has maximised the effectiveness of the areas available in the outdoor space and is always looking at ways to enhance this further.
Many of the staff team have been in post for over 5 years, meaning that you and your child are reassured by the consistency of a familiar face. We believe this is incredibly important when working with the very youngest children.
The setting received several awards at the 2019 Tommies Childcare Awards Ceremony:
- Nursery of the Year (2019)
- Deputy Manager of the Year (2019): Amy-Lee Mackay
- Third in Charge/Room Leader of the Year (2019): Stacey Scott
- Trainee of the Year (2019): Chrissie Wincott
- Innovative Environments Award (2019): Baby Room
All of these have awards have been received due to the hard work and commitment that the team have contributed to making the setting a great place to be for the children in their care.
