first steps rooms
(1 - 2 Years)
Our First Steps Room is specially created to support children as they transition from babies to toddlers. This bright and open space allows little explorers to practice walking, enjoy imaginative play with small world and role-play setups, and develop their coordination and motor abilities.
In this nurturing environment, children are encouraged to build positive relationships with their peers and staff members, fostering social skills and emotional development. The room is carefully designed to provide a safe environment where each child feels valued and supported as they explore and learn.
Toddler Room
(2 - 3 Years)
Our Toddler Room at Westhill Corner is a vibrant and welcoming space designed to nurture your child’s growing independence and curiosity. As toddlers become more mobile and eager to explore, this room offers a rich variety of engaging activities that encourage them to embrace their new skills with confidence. Here, your little one will have the opportunity to interact with peers in a supportive environment, fostering essential social skills like sharing, kindness, and cooperation.

Pre-School Room
(3 - 5 Years)
Our Pre-school Room is a vibrant hub of creativity and discovery, where your child’s wide-ranging interests come to life through unique and exciting activities every day. As the final stage in your child’s early years education, this room is specially designed to prepare them for the transition to primary school. Our dedicated staff work closely with each child, tailoring learning experiences to their individual passions and strengths, ensuring they develop the confidence and essential skills needed for their next big step.
Here, your child will thrive in a nurturing environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and meaningful learning experiences, setting a strong foundation for a successful future in school and beyond.
As children approach the compulsory school age, our experienced staff focus on preparing them to start school confidently, supporting their development in key areas such as independence, social skills, and essential learning.
Many activities in the Pre-school Room are tailored around your child’s individual interests, ensuring a nurturing and engaging environment that helps them thrive as they get ready for primary school.

Thank you for taking the time to discover Westhill Corner Day Nursery. My name is Lucinda Rumble (call me Lou) and I’m the Nursery Manager here. I have more than 20+ years’ experience in early education and am a Mum of three myself.
Since earning my childcare qualifications in 1999, I’ve spent my career creating learning environments where every child feels seen, nurtured, and encouraged. I believe I bring a wealth of leadership to the team here, having spent more than 15 years as a Nursery Manager.
I joined Tommies because our ethos here matches my own. We focus on warm relationships with families, provide thoughtful care for the children entrusted to us, and create purposeful learning opportunities through play that develop confidence and independence.
My door is always open to families who want to visit, so please take 1 minute to arrange a time to come by, and we’ll show you how our team can support your child’s next steps.
Fees, Funding &
Booking Patterns
Minimum Sessions for Children Aged 0-3 Years
Children aged 0-3 can only attend full-day sessions and must attend a minimum of two full days per week. If your booking pattern is for less than three full days, one of those days must be either a Monday or a Friday.
Minimum Sessions for Children Aged 3+ Years
Children aged 3+ must attend a minimum of three half-day sessions per week or one full-day session + one half-day session per week. If your booking pattern is for less than three full days, one of those days must be either a Monday or a Friday.
PAYMENT METHODS
Fees are paid monthly in advance on the 1st of each month via Direct Debit or the Tax-Free Childcare Scheme.
You can combine the two, paying some of your bill via Tax-Free Childcare, and the rest will be collected via Direct Debit.
We do not accept card payments, cash, or any other payment methods for childcare fees.

Discounts are limited to one per child and cannot be used in conjunction with any other discount we may offer.

Fees are calculated on an annual basis, whereby the value of the fees over 51 weeks is split into 12 identical monthly bills. Childcare bills will include bank holidays and a staff development day (‘inset’ day). Additional fees for the late collection of your child and late payment apply. Please ask for further details.
