Tommies Childcare

Why

We're Here

Every child deserves a calm, loving, and confident start. At Tommies Childcare, we began with a promise to put people first: children, families, and the dedicated teams who care for them.

As an award-winning nursery group, we offer a unique way of nurturing early years education through creative, natural environments that inspire exploration and growth. Rooted in a passionate commitment to both child development and staff well-being, Tommies provides memorable early years experiences that help children build confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.

"From my family to yours."

Caroline Fooks, Chief Executive

In 1998, Caroline had twin daughters who were attending a local pre-school that was struggling financially and on the brink of closure. As a mother deeply invested in her children’s early education, she couldn’t bear to see the place they loved disappear. Motivated by a genuine passion to provide children with the best possible start in life, Caroline stepped forward to take on the running of the business herself.

Her commitment wasn’t just about saving a pre-school—it was about creating a nurturing environment where every child could thrive, feel valued, and grow into a confident, happy individual. Starting from that heartfelt mission, Tommies has grown steadily and successfully into a thriving group of nine full-time day nurseries and pre-school settings across the Midlands.

This growth reflects more than just business success; it embodies Caroline’s vision of supporting children’s development through a unique approach that combines care, creativity, and early education. At Tommies, every decision is rooted in the belief that when children are given a loving, stable, and stimulating environment, they develop the confidence and skills they need to flourish in their future. This genuine dedication to children’s well-being and development remains the driving force behind Tommies Childcare’s ongoing success.

Our

Vision

At Tommies Childcare, children’s well-being is always at the heart of what we do. We understand that exceptional care begins with nurturing our staff, as their well-being directly impacts the quality of care they provide. By prioritising the development and support of our team, we foster a positive and stable environment where children feel secure, confident, and ready to explore. When our staff feel valued and empowered, they can deliver the highest standard of care, ensuring every child enjoys the best possible start to their early years journey.

Our vision statement is simple:

To nurture, protect, and help children grow into well-balanced, happy, and self-assured adults in safe, natural, and creative surroundings.

1

Support parents from the start

We stand with parents in raising well-balanced, happy, and self-assured young people by investing time, care, and resources in their well-being and development.

2

Nurture a creative environment

We allow young minds the freedom to explore and discover in a safe, stable and nurturing environment, creating resourceful adults able to reason, respond to and influence their world. Recognise and celebrate individuality, where each child is valued for their uniqueness and distinctive strengths and taught to value and respect differences and diversity in others.

3

Guarantee our employees are the best of the best

We offer peace of mind that your child is in the best hands, providing the personal attention and nurturing environment of home underpinned by professional expertise and a genuine passion for inspiring children. We provide the best mentors and guides for your children, investing in staff who understand this is more than a job and are excited to help shape our next generation.

4

Support your child's individuality and confidence

Foster a sense of self-worth from an early age, developing confidence and resilience in children that will enable them to withstand and overcome challenges as they grow.

Encourage positive interaction and communication, building children’s understanding of friendship, co-operation and respect for others in wider society and promoting a sense of belonging.

Boost independence, giving children the tools to become self-sufficient citizens in their community.
